DIIV Announce Long Anticipated Second Album; Share "Bent (Roi's Song)
It feels like it has been forever since the last time we hear DIIV. Their 2012 debut album, Oshin is widely considered to be one of the best releases off of the Captured Tracks record label (also home to Mac DeMarco and Perfect Pussy among others).
At long last, the boys are back! Today, DIIV shared the news that their sophomore effort, Is The Is Are will finally be released on February 3rd, 2016. The band also released the album's first single, "Bent (Roi's Song)".
Aside from releasing their album in February, the band will also participate in a massive Oceanic tour alongside Grimes, Beach House, FIDLAR and others.
A Double Dose of Grimes
Speaking of Grimes, it is almost time for the singer to release her new LP, Art Angels. In anticipation of the project, Claire Boucher has been more than generous to her loving fans by releasing many of the album's songs in advance. This includes the two songs she has released this week: the album's opening track, "Laughing and Not Being Normal", and the Aristophanes-assisted "SCREAM", which can be heard below.
According to her SongKick page, Grimes has over 40 shows planned for the year ahead, with more sure to be announced soon enough. Not sure if you would want to see her live? Peep or recap of Toronto's 2014 Time Festival below, a one day music event that featured Flume, Action Bronson, Kaytranada and of course the Canadian princess herself:
Diddy Presents "Gift" Album MMM to Fans
Happy Birthday Puffy! To commemorate his 46th big day, Diddy decided to let loose his new album, MMM, absolutely free of charge. While gracefully tipping a hat to his past with smooth beats and nostalgic features (Lil Kim, Jadakiss, Styles P), the album also features some of the tightest raw sounding and up-to-date beats we've heard all year, matched by even more star-studded guests (Travis Scott, Big Sean, Ty Dolla Sign and more). Said Puff of the project, which he describes as a "sonic motion picutre":
It’s the ultimate hustler's fairytale. I would like to take the time to dedicate this album to everyone who is trying to get money, trying to be somebody, trying to take care of their family, trying to eat, trying to survive, and most importantly the ones who know that one day, they are going to be the greatest because they have something special. - Puff Daddy
MMM also serves as a preface to the rapper's final album, No Way Out 2, a sequel to his 1997 classic. Stream the "sonic motion picture" below and don't forget to "Take that. Take that.":
Weezer Continue to Shine With "Do You Wanna Get High?"
SAY NO TO DRUGS? Maybe not. In fact, I actually want whatever drugs Weezer have been on because as of recently, they've been releasing the best material of their later career. Following up last year's excellent Everything Will Be Alright in the End, the band has released "Thank God For Girls", and now "Do You Wanna Get High?":
While the lyrics/wordplay may have been a lot more poignant on "Thank God For Girls", "High?" does by no means put a halt to the band's hot streak and is without a doubt a worthy successor to the equally catchy "Girls".
