British Columbia has had a turbulent history with music festivals in the past decade. After iconic events Squamish and Pemberton both folded, it was up to new entities to come and fill their shoes.

This August, Vancouver will host its second-annual Safe &  Sound Music Festival. Boasting an impressive lineup of Anderson .Paak, Vince Staples, Rico Nasty, and many more, the festival asserts that hip-hop is alive and well out on Canada's West Coast.

The lineup is a deep dive into international waters for Safe & Sound. Last year's billing was headlined by Jessie Reyez, DVSN, and the legendary K-OS. Aside from music, the festival also includes comedy, basketball, and live art.

"Music festivals should be more than just great music", explains festival founder Paul Stoilen "in our second year we have been working to introduce new and exciting elements to enhance the overall guest experience."

Headliner Anderson .Paak has plenty of new music on the way, including a collaboration with Eminem and Boogie. With plenty in store over the course of the two days, there is no telling what oppritunities await at Safe & Sound 2018!
