Mick Jenkins Plots Pop-Up Show in Montreal
This summer, Chicago rapper Mick Jenkins will drop his debut album, THC ([T]he [H]ealing [C]omponent). THC will (hopefully) follow a trail-blaze of releases from the Windy City this past year, spawning projects such as Kanye West's The Life of Pablo, Chance the Rapper's The Coloring Book, and most recently, Vic Mensa's There's A Lot Going On. In preparation for both the album's release and his upcoming summer tour, Mick has announced a surprise show in one of his favorite cities, Montreal, in which he will perform THC in full:
The show will also feature sets from a number of local DJs/Producers, including past Mick Jenkins collaborators, Fool's Gold Records signee High Klassified, and Soulection's own Da-P, the two of whom co-produced the title-track of Jenkins' 2015 EP, The Waters. If the lineup isn't enough to get you excited for the show, it should be noted that the pop-up performance comes free of charge!
With HK and Da-P, along with collaborator Kaytranada all from Montreal, it is also likely that Mick is also in the city putting some finishing touches on his debut. A video on High Klassified's Snapchat story from this afternoon reveals "Mickalas Cage" seated in the studio, while the beatmaker has production software opened on his laptop:
