Kanye West to Headline GovBall; Drops "Real Friends/No More Parties in LA"

After much speculation as to who would be featured on the ever-illustrious Governor's Ball Music Festival lineup, it was revealed that none other than Kanye West would serve as the festival's headliner, along with The Strokes and The Killers. govball2016_content-block

While this will be The Killers' GovBall debut, it is far from the first time that both Kanye or The Strokes have played. Both acts previously headlined the festival in 2013 and 2014, respectively, with the former's performance being the first time he played songs off of Yeezus at a public show.

If this wasn't enough Kanye news for one day, the rapper also released (then deleted, then rereleased, then redeleted and so on...) a new track titled "Real Friends/No More Parties in LA". The track features Ty Dolla $ign on the first half and Kendrick Lamar, along with co-production from Madlib on the second. The track is available for listen on Kanye's official website.

According to Stones Throw (the label Madlib is signed to), "No More Parties in LA" features a sample of the classic Soul/Funk tune, “Suzie Thundertussy” by Junie Morrison. Of course, the track also samples Ghostface Killah's "Might Healthy", which Ye previously sampled on 2012's "New God Flow".

According wife Kim Kardashian, this release marks the return of Kanye's infamous "GOOD Fridays" series, which was active leading up to the release of his fifth studio album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

Kanye's seventh studio album, SWISH, is rumored to be released in the first quarter of this year.
