Interscope Declares August 7th "Dre Day"
The final chapter has arrived. Today marks the release of Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre, the rapper's long anticipated third album. Although the album is not the "Hip-Hop holy grail" Dre had previously been going for with the concept for the now scrapped Detox, the album is indeed a worthy conclusion to Andre Young's spectacular run. In celebration of the release, Interscope Records have declared today "Dre Day", a nod to the good doctor's 1992 classic track. Outside the Interscope offices in Santa Monica, a beautiful banner of the album's cover is on display:
A press release from the label also notes that a special Dre-themed sky writing will take place from 3-4pm, Pacific time. The locations in which the sky writing can be seen are Compton, Downtown Los Angeles, Hollywood, Studio City, Santa Monica.
