Montreal's premium heavy metal festival, Heavy Montreal will be taking a break in 2017. The news was revealed by Nick Farkas, who serves as head of Evenko's booking department, citing thorough renovations to festival site Parc Jean-Drapeau as one of the many reasons for next year's cancellation. The news was later confirmed by Heavy Montreal spokesperson and radio host Jason Rockman, via a Facebook post.

However, the festival is set to resume the following year. In the meantime, Heavy Montreal are set to host a number of shows throughout the coming year, most notably, Guns 'N' Roses return to Montreal, which was announced earlier this week.

As previously reported, the renovations to Parc Jean-Drapeau will affect Evenko's two other festivals, Osheaga and IleSoniq, both of which are set to be held at Gilles Villeneuve Circuit for their upcoming editions. Details about how the festivals will be set up remain unclear at the moment.
