Eminem Teases New Album "Revival" With Hilarious Fake Medicine
Shady's back! Earlier today, Shady Records co-founder Paul Rosenberg posted a picture with news about signee Yelawolf's new album, Trial by Fire. However, fans were quick to pick up on an Easter egg hidden within the image.
The background of the contains a poster for an ambiguous medicine called "Revival". It distinctly features Eminem's signature backwards E and is the same font as his logo (Helvetica Neue Bold Extended). A Reddit user who spotted the poster in real life notes that it lists a number (1-833-243-8738) and site, http://askaboutrevival.com
Calling the number reveals it to be an info line for Revival medicine. Its automated message drops references to hits such as "I Need a Doctor" and "Lose Yourself" in hilarious fashion. Site for Revival features a similar tongue-in-cheek experience alongside an infomercial. The bottom of the site lists Popsomp Industries as the medicine's manufacturer, the same company used to promote 2009's Relapse in similar fashion.
This isn't the first time Eminem has used absurd marketing. The Eminem Show urinal mats were created in 2002 to promote the diamond-selling album. Sham-Wow's own Vince Offer created a Recovery infomercial to plug the 2010 Grammy-winner.
Revival is expected to hit stores November 17th. Watch Eminem's "The Storm" freestyle below:
