D12 have been on a wild promo run to plug their new project, The Devil's Night Mixtape. The mixtape is primarily delivered with verses from members Bizarre, Kuniva and Swifty McVay, although Eminem does appear on the mixtape's lucrative introduction and the now more distanced Mr. Porter (formally Kon Artis) popping up on a few tracks. During a recent interview with HotNewHipHop, the group reflected on their earlier work, resulting in Kuniva making a surprising revelation about how one of Eminem's biggest hits was almost their own:

"I remember one particular record, and it ended up being an Eminem record. It was "Sorry Mama," ["Cleanin' Out My Closet"] one of his biggest hits. But we had that song first, and actually Bizarre was on that song first. He was talking some craaaazy shit, and the whole group was like, "Yo, he can't say this shit, it's too much!" He got a call from Dr. Dre who was like, "Man, say that shit! You gotta say it, blah blah blah" but ultimately, he gave in to the group and was like "Fuck it." So Eminem was like, "Fuck it, I'll take the song," and he took it and made "Sorry Mama" with it. That particular incident is just a reminder of how creative everyone was and so much ahead of our time we were. Listening to it, I'm like "Damn!", I wonder how that song would have been received if it would've went on our album."

Previously, the group famously passed on 50 Cent's now infamous Dr. Dre-produced hit, "In Da Club", although a rare remix can be found online titled "Kick The Door In":
