6 "Battle of the Beats" We'd Love to See Happen Next

Last night, super-producers Swizz Beatz and Just Blaze competed in a "Battle of the Beats" competition, live from Swizz's studio. The battle saw the two playing choices of some of their hottest productions, one after the other. Ultimately, Swizz, with the home court advantage, came out victorious.

After the battle, the two expressed this being the start of something larger, hoping to have more in the future. Pairings of Pharrell vs. Timbaland (who they hope could battle next), The Alchemist vs. El-P, and DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock were thrown out. This got us excited, and immediately had us thinking of other exciting potential match-ups. With that being said, here are "6 "Battle of the Beats" We'd Love to See Happen Next"

6. Jermaine Dupri vs. Trackmasters

Both underrated for their roles in the "80s-Flip" era Puff Daddy arguably dominated in the 90s and early 00s, these two acts have bangers for days.

5. Metro Boomin vs. Zaytoven

These two beat-makers are arguably the most important figures in shaping the current state of southern instrumentals. The only question is: Which one does it better?

4. Madlib vs. MF Doom

Could "America's Most Blunted" facing off turn these friends into sworn enemies? Probably not, but it would be interesting to watch who would come out on top between these two laid back Beat Konductas.

3. DJ Mustard vs. Mike Will Made It

Two of the biggest hit-makers of the past 5 years, each with their own distinctive sound. Interestingly enough, both producers also have a hefty amount of deep cuts in each of their respective stashes.

2. The Alchemist vs. Havoc

The prospect of an "Alchemist vs. Havoc" battle was brought up by Just Blaze after last night's battle, but this one could be even more interesting. Alchemist and Havoc's history together is intangible, both celebrated for a dark, grimy aesthetic perfect for any New York rapper. Although Havoc has classics throughout decades, Alc's recent triumphs should not go unnoticed.

1. Daz Dillinger vs. DJ Quik

Two West Coast underdogs: One, an underrated role in crafting the sound the powerhouse that was Death Row, the other generally missing the mark when it came to radio, but is key when it comes to crafting the tracks the build album's foundations. This might just be the fairest pairing on our list.

BONUS: Kaytranada vs. Pomo

Labelmates on HW&W Records, this Canadian pairing are two of the most influential when it comes to shaping some of today's electronic spectrum. Although not technically Hip-Hop (at least most of the time), a battle between these two beat-makers is totally feasible, and would be one for the ages.
