Does anyone else remember when cereal boxes gave you stuff? Toys, video games and all sorts of other things. Well even if you don’t remember them, Australian electronic producer Flume certainly does. When he was 13, Harley Streten (aka Flume) bought a box of Nutri-Grain cereal. It happened to come with a copy of Kellogg’s “Make Your Own Music” program. In the nine years since then he’s certainly moved on from cereal box music production.
After signing with Future Classic records in 2011, he released his debut EP “Sleepless”. This was followed up just over a year later with his self titled debut album. The album made its debut at number 2 on the Australian ARIA charts, right behind One Directions “Take Me Home”. It would then go on to hit the number one album spot and receive double platinum certification. The deluxe version of the album even included a collaboration with Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah, among others.
In 2013, Flume was nominated for 8 ARIA awards. He ended up winning four of them, including Best Male Artist. He also began a side project What So Not with fellow Aussie producer Emoh Instead. Their debut single Jaguar can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB6ac_hRBik
