Red Bull Music Academy has developed a stern reputation for organising shows of unconventional nature. From Dam-Funk’s “On Ice” show, to show inside Montreal’s Olympic Pool, it is safe to say that the festival knows how to test unknown waters.
From April 29th to May 31st, Red Bull Music Academy returns to New York City for their annual #RBMANYC festival. Highlighted events include live talks featuring Teddy Riley and Werner Herzog, a Brazilian bass showcase, and Solange at the Guggenheim.
But perhaps the most inciting event on the festival’s eclectic lineup is one called “Piano Nights“. The event will see Atlanta rap innovators and frequent collaborators Gucci Mane and Zaytoven perform with all but a microphone and a piano, inside an intimate piano bar.
The lowkey event will mark all but Gucci’s second live appearance in NYC following his release from prison last year. Unsurprisingly, it has already sold out. Zaytoven has previously participated in Red Bull Music Academy events, including an insightful lecture alongside fellow Atlanta producers, Metro Boomin, and Sonny Digital.
If you missed out on tickets, fear not. The academy will often broadcast their shows live via RBMA Radio, who live-tweet their programming schedule around the clock.
