After securing a spot on Pitchfork‘s list of “The Best Music Videos of 2016” for his “Lite Spots” music video, Montreal producer Kaytranada celebrated by treating his fans to a lengthy and informative Twitter Q&A. The session revealed a lot of interesting facts about both Kaytranada’s personal interests, along information regarding his career’s past, present, and future.
Perhaps the most interesting anecdote attained was when Kaytra revealed that UK alt-rockers Gorillaz approached him to collaborate, plans that he was excited for that ultimately fell through, stating the following when asked whether work with the band seemed plausible for the near future:
However, the tweet was promptly deleted, with Pigeons and Planes catching and immortalising it before it before it had permanently vanished from the Twittersphere. This leads us to wonder, could a Gorillaz and Kaytranada collaboration still be a possibility?
Other than potential work Kaytranada, Gorillaz has hit the studio with a number of guests, including confirmed features from Chicago rapper Vic Mensa, “Feel Good Inc.” collaborators De La Soul, and even Snoop Dogg. At an event at Abbey Road earlier this month, Gorillaz guitarist Jeff Wootton stated that the band had also been working with Klaxons on a project.
