It’s the season of giving, and Busta Rhymes is about to give us something new to bang our heads to. That’s right, this Friday, the Conglomerate head honcho himself will drop two new singles, in what he is referring to as the “Double Dragon”:
These will be Busta Rhymes’ first singles released via Epic Records, which he signed to this year following a period of independence after parting ways with Cash Money Records in 2014. Last week, Busta took to Instagram to reveal footage of himself in studio sessions with both longtime collaborators Swizz Beatz, and The Vibe Chemist Backspin, the latter of whom has been working with Rhymes since Leaders of the New School’s debut album, A Future Without a Past…
It is safe to assume that at the very least, the song with Swizz will be one of the ones released this Friday. The duo performed the track at Harlem’s iconic Apollo Theatre for a “Showtime at the Apollo” anniversary special that aired on Fox last night. In an interview with Revolt TV prior to the show, Rhymes revealed that the track is titled “Aaahhhh”, with Swizz describing the record as “dangerous”. Judging by the lyrics and delivery, the second track previewed appears to be a sequel to Rampage’s 1997 banger, “Wild For Da Night”, on which Busta is featured.
Are you excited for the return of the Dungeon Dragon? Busta Rhymes heavily delayed tenth studio album, E.L.E.2 (Extinction Level Event 2), is expected to drop during the first half of 2017.
